“Transcendent singer/songwriter Patty Griffin honored the city of Austin, Texas, with an amazing intimate performance at the Gibson showroom to benefit Grounded in Music, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation whose sole mission is to change the lives of under-privileged children grade four through 12 by exposing them to the possibilities available by choosing music as a career, hobby or alternative to life on the streets.
“’When I was a kid, I first became aware of my musical ability through the public school program in my town, which happened to have several great music instructors in their midst,’ said Griffin. ‘Today, with public education budgets in tatters, it’s incredibly important that somewhere in our culture, there are those making sure that kids who can’t afford it otherwise have opportunities to learn about music and express themselves with it. I think about my earliest teachers often, and the enthusiasm they had for me back then continues to inspire me to this day. Grounded In Music is important stuff.’”
